Let Us Pray: Rediscovering the Power, Pattern, and Purpose of the Lord’s Prayer

Faith on Fleek

When Men Don’t Pray, Things Fall Apart

Some battles are won in boardrooms.
Some on your knees.

Jesus didn’t say if you pray — He said when.

“When you pray, say…”
(Luke 11:2)

In a world that teaches men to fix, fight, or flee, Jesus teaches men to kneel.

Because the strongest man is not the one who never struggles — but the one who knows where to run when he does.

So today, let us go back to the blueprint of divine communication
Let us pray.

The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13):

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

1. Our Father in Heaven — The Foundation of Sonship

“Our Father…”

This changes everything.
Before we ask for anything, we remember who we are. Sons. Not orphans.
We don’t approach God as distant or detached, but as a loving Father.

This isn’t a transaction. It’s a relationship.

And this means:

  • You don’t have to earn His attention
  • You already have access
  • You belong

2. Hallowed Be Your Name — Worship First

“…Hallowed be Your name.”

Prayer isn’t just a wishlist — it’s worship.
God is not your errand boy. He’s your Creator and King.
Before you bring your pain or plans, bring praise.

To hallow His name means to reverence it, magnify it, and submit to it.

3. Your Kingdom Come — Not My Will, But Yours

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done…”

True prayer bends our will to God’s will.

To say “Your kingdom come” is to say:

  • “Rule in my decisions”
  • “Reign in my habits”
  • “Replace my priorities with Yours”

This is maturity — when we stop praying for God to endorse our agenda and start asking to align with His.

4. Give Us Today Our Daily Bread — Trust God for the Present

“Give us this day our daily bread…”

This isn’t just about food.
It’s about provision, grace, strength — for today.

Jesus teaches us to:

  • Stop hoarding what we can’t control
  • Trust God daily
  • Rely on Him moment by moment

Because the man who learns to live day-by-day with God…
never goes hungry.

5. Forgive Us… As We Forgive — A Heart Clean and Clear

“Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors…”

God’s grace flows through us, not just to us.

You can’t receive mercy and withhold it from others.
To be forgiven is to become forgiving.

This line requires:

  • Humility (I’ve fallen short)
  • Honesty (I’m still growing)
  • Healing (I won’t pass on the pain)

Unforgiveness makes men hard.
Forgiveness makes men holy.

6. Lead Us Not Into Temptation — Keep Me from Me

“Do not lead us into temptation…”

God never tempts us — but He can protect us from walking straight into sin.

This prayer is saying:
“Lord, block what will break me.
Guide me when I can’t trust my flesh.
Disrupt my plans before they destroy me.”

Every man needs this.
Even Jesus prayed against temptation (Matthew 26:41).

7. Deliver Us From the Evil One — Cover Me in Battle

“But deliver us from the evil one…”

We are not just facing pressure — we are in a spiritual war.

Temptation is not random.
Attack is not accidental.
But the good news? We have a Defender.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper…” (Isaiah 54:17)

8. Yours is the Kingdom — It’s All About God

“For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever.”

This is how we end — but it’s also how we begin.

This life, this calling, this manhood?
It’s not about us.
It’s about bringing glory to the Father.

Let Us Pray

Men, prayer is not weakness.
It’s warfare.
It’s not soft. It’s strategic.
It’s not a last resort. It’s a first response.

Whether you’re a student, father, single, married, lost, or leading —
God is ready to meet you.
Right here. Right now.

So…

Let us pray.

The Prayer of Surrender & Salvation

If you’ve never fully surrendered to Jesus, now is the time.
Say this from your heart:

“Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus.
I confess that I’ve lived far from You.
I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again.
Forgive me. Cleanse me. Fill me with Your Spirit.
Teach me to walk with You and pray with You.
I receive You as my Lord and Savior.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Did you pray that prayer?
Welcome home. God hears you, and He walks with you.
